In a momentous day for the art of giant bubble-making, a British bubble-maker has created what he thinks is the world’s largest free-floating soap bubble ever.

He was aiming to surpass the previous Guinness World Record, which was set in October 2005 in Minnesota, USA – coming in at a hefty volume of 105.4ft.
Professional bubble-maker Samsam – a man who has chosen to use a name so wretched that in any civilised society it would see him driven out of town by a pack of slavering dogs – is certain that his attempt on Friday was better than Minnesota’s effort.

The 37-year-old, who has made bubbles for celebrities across the world (side note: that’s a job now? Making bubbles for celebrities?), is now waiting for the amazing achievement to be officiated.

‘I’m confident it has obliterated the former record,’ he said. ‘This one dwarfs the American effort.’

Samsam Bubbleman’s real name is Sam Heath.
